Well, there isn’t much to talk about, I’ve just been doing a lot of things lately. Like they say: “the one who talks the less, enjoys the most”. Here are a few screenshots from some fun times:
This week, I’ve been catching back on the main quest lines of Battle for Azeroth, we’ve both completed the war campaign and the pride of Kul Tiras.
I’ve also unlocked the Void Elves and the Lightforged Draenei allied races. I honestly thought that the Void Elves would be my favourite race, since I’m not really a fan of Draenei… Well, it didn’t turn out that way, helping T’paartos completing his trial was hillarious. That got me wondering: where is he now? Hopefully, I’ll cross him again…
Then, I embarked on an amazing quest: the Dwarf heritage armour. There’s no secret here, I’m a big Dwarf fan. Having us help restoring an ancient Dwarf armour with the help of the furnace master was a total hit. This quest chain ended up being one of my favourites in the entire game.
It was also Nobelgarden and I went back to my favourite chocolate farming spot: Goldhsire. We both collected the 500 chocolates required to purchase the new toy (the Nobelgarden Heartstone) and the 5 new spring circlets. The funny thing with Nobelgarden is that we often see it as a chore that disrupts our questing, but when we’re transformed as rabbits running amidst the chaos that is the egg hunt, we’re enjoying it very much.
Until now, I’ve absolutely loved questing and levelling in BfA. Upon my arrival in Boralus, I started my adventure in Tiragarde Sound. There was an instant click with the new content, one that I hadn’t experienced in a while. I found myself stopping everywhere to admire the beauty of the landscapes and the details that Blizzard has spent so much time creating. Also, the music is mesmerizing. Every morning, I wake up with the Boralus theme song in my head, a great start for my days.
One of the first quest chains that I did, lead me to the encounter with the kraken, Viq’Goth at Anglepoint Warf. I absolutely loved to take part in defending the sea gate. It reminded me of Tethyr, the kraken that attacked Theramore. It already was one of my favourite quests, imagine my surprise when I discovered the leviathan theme in this new expansion. As a huge Cthulhu fan, I was ecstatic.
I also enjoyed saving sailors from the siren songs, uncovering the betrayal of Lady Ashvane, and horseriding in the Norwington Estate,… So many great quests in this zone that are already creating fond memories. With a special mention to the side quests of The Roughnecks. They’re probably my favourite Tiragarde quests, from shaving goats, to gathering honey, and killing wendigos… I had a fun adventure which lead to the meeting of the majestic Wildhammer Dwarf, Boss Tak.
Description: With a performance like that, it’s clear you’re one of the top dogs here. Boss Tak will want to see you. He’s up north checking on one of our camps in Waning Glacier. Head up that way and give him a hand. Oh, and I don’t recommend looking him straight in the eye… or at his feet… or really anywhere near him. Best bet, close your eyes when you’re talkin’ to him. – Wow-pedia
I can’t help but chuckle at this description. What can I say? I have a certain fondness for Dwarves.
Now off to explore Drustvar and Stormsong Valley. The adventure continues…
After a far too long break from WoW, we have finally resubbed… Only with a few twists:
We’re back to the Alliance. During our time away from WoW, we’ve missed the Alliance the most, with its forests and its cosy inns. Also, Kul Tiras looks fantastic, it is perfectly on spot with our idea of fantasy;
After many experiments with other classes, we’ve decided to keep maining our hunters. The deciding factor is the fun. On top of the many advantages of the class, our hunters are dwarfs and, if you’d know us in real life, you’d know that we’re all about dwarfs;
The last one is a biggy: we want to keep away from the negativity train. While we didn’t stay away from WoW because of the negativity, we were certainly afraid to come back because of it. Honestly, the game is a total blast to us and we have so many things to do in it, that we don’t care if some parts are less fun than others. To that end, we’re trying to be more selective with the people we follow, that’s why we’ve started new Twitter accounts. Sometimes, a reset is all you need…
Oh, and our guild and blog are now called “The Sleeping Grizzly”, which is the name of the fictional tavern in our stories (you know dwarves and their taverns).
The anniversary event, The darkening of Tristram, has returned this year. I’ve already completed the Diablo 1 inspired dungeon on my PC, but I also wanted to run the event on my Switch. This time, I rolled a Necromancer. It was good fun exploring the labyrinth once again.
I’ve made some notes for the future since some things are easily forgotten:
When you start, make sure you start a fresh level 1 character. Run straight from the Old Ruins waypoint to the portal for The Darkening of Tristram without killing any mobs on the way. Once passed through the portal, you run straight to the Labyrinth without clicking anything. Clicking the cows, dead bodies,… will come later when you have obtained the necessary items. They are important for getting certain achievements, pets,… during the event.
The Butcher pet was the first one I got by clearing the dungeon with a fresh level 1 character solo. This will grant you the ‘An Eerie Red Glow Blurs Your Vision’ achievement and the Butcher pet at the end.
The Ogden’s Sign, and Ogden’s Brew (both banners), Red Soul Shard (legendary headslot gem), and The Butcher’s Cleaver (transmog) are easily obtainable since they are guaranteed rewards from killing bosses in the labyrinth. You clear the entire dungeon once and you have all of these for sure.
The next one is more tricky since it was bugged once again. How to get the plans for The Wirt’s Leg (transmog) and The Royal Calf (pet):
In Level 9 of the dungeon, you will find the Black Mushroom, click on it to obtain a Rotten Mushroom;
Go back to Old Tristram and find Adria’s Hut. Throw the Rotten Mushroom inside the cauldron to obtain Witch’s Brew;
Click the four corpses in town in this order: Farnham, Ogden, Pepin, and Griswold. The last corpse will drop the plan for Wirt’s Leg;
Then you can teleport back to town and teach it to the Blacksmith. You’ll find the plans under the Maces section. Now here’s where you have to pay attention since it was bugged 2 years in a row: If the plan is blue in stead of orange (legendary) don’t craft it! It costs 1 million gold to craft and a blue one (the bug) won’t do it. It has to be orange! They fixed the bug a few days later, but the damage was already done, I had lost a few million trying to craft the right Wirt’s Leg. I also had to first log into another character and then go back to my necromancer before the plan appeared legendary.
After you’ve crafted the legendary Wirt’s Leg, you have to salvage it so it offers up the Map of the Stars, which reads 2-1-3;
Go back to Adria’s Hut and click on the cow corpses in this order: middle (2), left (1), then right (3). This will open the Abandoned Farmstead portal;
Head through the portal and find Wirt’s Stash. Open the chest to get the Cow Pet Trinket and right-click it to earn the Royal Calf.
The Classic Demon Portrait is a reward for killing 40 unique classic monsters in the Anniversary dungeon, gaining you ‘The Protector of Tristram’ achievement. The full list of unique monsters:

The Classic Angel portrait is awarded from the ‘I Sense a Soul in Search of Answers’ achievement. You can get this achievement by collecting all 7 Cultist’s Page items which are dropped by Temporal Priests. They can be found in the following locations:
Act I: The Weeping Hollow, Festering Woods, Cathedral levels 1, 2 and 4, Halls of Agony levels 1, 2 and 3;
Act II: Dahlgur Oasis, Desolate Sands;
Act III: Keep Depths 1, 2 and 3, Stonefort, Rakkis Crossing, Arreat Crater 1, Tower of the Damned 1, The Core of Arreat;
Act IV: Gardens of Hope 1, 2 and 3, Silver Spire 1 and 2, Hell Rift 1;
Act V: Westmarch Commons, Westmarch Heights, Paths of the Drowned, Battlefields of Eternity.
There can only be one Temporal Priest per location, which may drop duplicate pages so, be ready for several runs. They also drop while doing bounties so, you don’t necessarily need to complete this achievement with the same character you started the event with. Beware that you can’t trade these pages with a seasonal character!
I just finished the event for the second time, and I hope that everybody had as much fun as I had. Meanwhile, season 16 has started, and I’m experimenting with a new Witch Doctor build. But, more about that later!
Each time a new expansion is about to hit, we ask ourselves the same question: “should we change our main character?”.
It implies that we aren’t happy with our actual mains… To be honest, we haven’t been happy with the Hunter in a long time. There are some great things about it, but the gameplay is no longer one of them.
Therefore, we’re always trying other classes in the hope to find a replacement.
We’ve tried many classes lately, both on live and beta servers, and the pattern has been the same for all of them: discovery – excitement – disappointment. For example, we would try a destruction warlock, get comfortable with it, reach max level, have fun completing quests, go in a dungeon and, almost directly, get bored with it.
After a few weeks hurting ourselves, we’ve finally found the right fit and, guess what, it’s the same class for both of us!
For my husband, Sardoken, the problem didn’t come from the class but from the role. He just doesn’t enjoy DPSing in dungeons… Healer was where the fun was when he started to play, 14 years ago, and it still is today.
For me, the problem was that no other class could bring her as much fun as the Moonkin. Eventhough she found the Paladin and the Warlock interesting, the Druid is what makes her feel the most comfortable in dungeons. Nothing like a dashing cat to catch back the group, especially those Demon Hunters.
As for the faction, no matter how beautiful Kul Tiras can be, and no matter how crazy Sylvanas can go, we’ll stay faithful to our faction: For the Horde!
TLDR: We’ll switch mains in BFA but not for a class we’ve never played before, our druids will finally have the place they deserve.
Now, off to complete those last achievements before 8.0 is realeased.
After many Sundays (and when I say many, I mean many) spent killing Goblins, Pirates and Murlocs, both Sardoken and I finally made it, we’ve lost our sanity (what little we had)!
I remember how it all started, a few years ago, with killing thousands of Goblin guards in Booty Bay. It was quite the massacre, for a long time, we couldn’t enter any Goblin outpost without being attacked by the green little dudes.
When I got exalted with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, I knew that there was no way back, I just had to get the title “The Insane”. I think that this was my greatest ambition throughout the entire game and, yesterday, we finally made it.
I think that Blizzard knew exactly what they were doing when they chose the name of this achievement. Pickpocketing Murlocs for 34 hours (yes, 34! I’ve kept track of time) took grinding to another level. I think that you must, indeed, be Insane in the Membrane to be able to complete it.
It’s by far my most favourite achievement in WoW, and I’ll be wearing my new title with pride until the end of time.
Last time I participated in the “Trial of Style”, I lost one trial after another. So, I wasn’t very eager to participate this time. On Friday, I gathered all my courage and went on with the transmog fest. The themes were: “Summer Styles” and “Winter Wear”.
Granted, while I love my character to look pretty badass, I’m a complete noob in transmog. Regardless, I’m pretty proud to say that I won the two trials in a row. At first I couldn’t believe I won. Now, it got me motivated to go on an appearance collecting spree.
I have to admit that it’s much easier and much more fun transmogging my character now that she’s a Blood Elf. They get away with almost everything. Life must be so easy being an arrogant beauty.
At this point, we can safely say that we’ve seen Legion in its final state. So, why not having a look back at all these things that kept us busy during the last two years. This is not a review, just a list of “we did/didn’t enjoy”.
General design of the zones
From Stormheim to Argus, this expansion was gorgeous. Of course, we have our preferences, like High Mountain and Mac’Aree, but all zones were fantastic to level and to quest in.
I’ve always been fans of daily quests. It’s a nice system that keeps you busy and gives you the feeling to work towards an aim, mostly the reputation with a faction. I remember, in MOP, Sardoken and I were thinking that it would be nice if they could find a system to keep our interest in the dailies beyond the exalted status and, boom, they’ve made it with the emissary caches and the random rewards they contain.
To me, one of the best things of this expansion. I wish I had the time to complete all the class halls. I’m actually sad that it won’t continue in BFA. I enjoyed every aspect of it, from the halls to the special mounts and the amazing quest lines.
Prestige and PVP quests
Eventhough I’m not a big PVP fan, I enjoyed these quests. While the Tower Assaults are a quick PVE strike granting PVP experience, events like Black Rook Rumble really hit the spot by introducing us to some fast paced PVP content. I enjoyed each of these events and, sometimes, they were amongst the funniest things I had done all day. Also worth mentioning: the PVP brawls, also a ton of fun.
There’s no secret here: I love fishing, and I’m really happy that Blizzard has provided us with even more reasons to use our (gorgeous) fishing poles. Way to go Blizz!
These timed dungeon runs weren’t exactly my favourite so, I haven’t done a lot of mythics this expansion. Only the normal mythic ones needed to finish the “Balance of Power” achievement. I had fun running those though, but I left it at that. After all, I’m a big casual and I seek relaxation above all.
The mage Tower
I’m a bit shared about this one. I enjoy a challenge and working toward an achievement, but the difficulty of the challenges doesn’t feel balanced. I’m not particularly proud of this, but I kind of gave up on the mage tower, my patience just got the best of me.
I need something that gives me the feeling that each gaming session brings me further toward an objective and collecting the artifact power gave me just that. I don’t need to be geared instantly, I’m more of a “it’s the road that matters” kind of person.
Helping a faction with their own troubles, so they will help us in return isn’t a new thing, but helping Thalyssra to create a new source of Mana so we could overthrow Elisande and finally defeat Gul’dan was awesome. It really feels like a lot of work was put in the insurrection quest chain, and seing Thalryssa joining the Horde felt the same as when an old friend decides to join your team.
It may seem trivial to some but hunting those hidden chests really adds a lot of pleasure to my exploration experience. Just one thing I’d like to see changed in BFA: don’t make us carry the treasure maps in our bags anymore.
Balance of power
The quest that almost made me quit: how dare they force us into real raids and mythic dungeons! Well, I was wrong. This quest is what made me use the premade tool, introduced me to normal mythics and was the greatest source of entertainment during my X-Mas holidays. Sorry Ion, I shouldn’t have doubted you.
While I understand why some content needed to be gated, it doesn’t make me hate it less. Gating broke my first run through the expansion. I enjoyed all the quest lines while leveling my Druid, once the gating was gone. Don’t do this again, please!
Professions and Obliterum
A complete fail! I can’t believe that they’ve managed to make engineering boring, and I’m not even talking about Jewelcrafting. Obliterum could have not existed. The only time that I wanted to use it to improve my engineered goggles, it didn’t work. It has never been documented, why engineers couldn’t use it, it is a complete mystery to me. Cooking was horrible, I hate Nomi and I hope that he burns in his kitchen, just like he burned so much of my food!
Not much to say there. I don’t really raid enough to judge the mechanics. Design-wise, I enjoyed Emerald Nightmare and Tomb of Sargeras the most. I really didn’t like Antorus.
We also enjoyed
Pet battle dungeons, Hidden secrets, Timewalking raids, The deaths of Chromie, the Brawlers Guild, the Death Metal event at the DMF, and micro-holidays. All small things that add so much to the game.
Besides gating, Legion was an awesome expansion, probably even better than WOTLK when it comes to gameplay. Good systems were improved and new ones were introduced to enhance our experience and increase the replayability. Good job Blizzard and congratulation to the man behind all this: Ion Hazzikostas.
After completing the quest for unlocking the Nightborne allies, I kind of forgot to pick up the second quest to unlock the Highmountain Tauren. Last weekend, I’ve finally completed it. It was a short quest-chain in Highmountain that, in my humble opinion, paled in comparaison to the Nightborne quests.
During the Nightborne quest-chain you feel more involved in the politics of the Horde. You really see why they join the Horde. The quests for the Highmountain Tauren, on the other hand, seemed to be ordinary and not really politically motivated. Not that I’m into politics! It’s just the thing that I expected for unlocking allied races though.
I love the model of the HM Tauren, even though I’ll probably never play one. They are a little too bulky and not all transmog sets suit them very well. Let’s face it, transmog is very important! Who doesn’t love to run around with a badass looking character?
Last weekend, Sardoken and I pre-purchased “Battle for Azeroth”. Naturally, our first concern was which character to spend our 110 boost on. After “serious” thinking, we decided to both boost a Death Knight.
Saturday afternoon we spent the day leveling our DK’s to 60 before applying the boost. To my surprise there were a ton of people leveling in Hellfire Peninsula. It was fun seeing so many people enjoying the old content. The gameplay with the DK was very enjoyable as well. It felt like I was on a killing spree with an unstoppable juggernaut. Another thing I really love is the lore, it reminds me so much of the Dragonlance series. Hence why I named my character, Kittiara.
From the moment we dinged 60, we eagerly hit the boost button… everthing went fine, until we had to run a Legion dungeon. It was one of those speedruns again… like most dungeon runs these days, and that’s where it all went wrong. We both realized that we don’t like melee DPS in groups. Simply because we don’t like to run after the mobs before we can hit them. That was the moment when we missed our druids again, the shapeshifting, the ranged DPS and the healing for Sardoken.
TLDR, DK’s are fun, but I realized that I don’t like melee DPS in groups. I guess that we’ll be druids for life.
